Bangalore, Mar 2: With media persons observing protests in Bangalore and other parts of Karnataka against the violent attacks by Bangalore’s lawyers at the Bangalore City Civil Court on Friday during former Tourism Minister and MLC G Janardhana Reddy’s appearance in the court in illegal mining case, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has ordered a judicial probe into the entire incident.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC would continue at the City Civil Court premises on Saturday also, the Chief Minister said.

A retired judge of the High Court of Karnataka or the Supreme Court would be appointed in two or three days to probe the incident comprehensively, the Chief Minister announced after a high level meeting attended by Home Minister R Ashok and top police officials.

All the TV channels have decided to observe a two-minute blackout of their broadcasts from 8 pm to 8.02 pm to condemn the attacks against the media persons

The Chief Minister said the Government would frame guidelines to probe the matter after discussing it with the Principal District Civil and Sessions Judge, Bangalore, and Registrar of the Court.

After completion of the probe, the Government would take action against the guilty without any hesitation, the Chief Minister said.

“The truth will come out after a comprehensive inquiry,” he said declaring that the Government would not spare anybody. ''There is no question of shielding any advocates for taking law into their hands and assaulting media persons and damaging their camera equipments,” he said.

The Chief Minister, who had incurred the wrath of the media persons for his first reaction in the morning that he was not aware of the situation and would ask the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar to take stock of the situation and brief him, later assured that the Government would bear medical expenses of scribes and police, who were injured in the attack and admitted to hospital.

The Chief Minister said damage to public properties too would be assessed soon. The police have been deployed at the court and other parts of the city to prevent untoward incidents, he said.

The Home Minister R Ashok, who met the media persons who staged a protest in front of Vidhana Soudha in the afternoon, condemned the incident and the unruly and the lawlessness exhibited by the lawyers and said the Government would take stern action against the guilty.

The Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri has also strongly condemned the attack of media persons by lawyers on the city civil court premises on Friday.

Kageri said the lawyers indulged in the attack on the fourth estate should be punished and action to be taken to prevent such ugly incidents in the future.

Condemnable heinous acts of violence. However Media too should learn to respect the men in uniform. You can not go on ridiculing Police, and seek their protection, when you are in trouble!

CM ordering probe is akin to
galvanising an 'Ass' to find a
'Hole' to hide himself! I mean what is this happening in our state? Are there are furhter depths or nadirs of anarchy we can plunge into? All this in front of the Police and caught on camera? Surely there's more than what meets the eye... and from the look of things there are more disasters waiting to happen.....

This hardly is a fight between lawyers and media. This is between BJP government and media. Barring a few, all other BJP men are at the mercy of the lawyers due to the scams they are involved in. There is hardly any chance of this government taking any action against the lawyers. Government has d war on media on all fronts because it is the same media who defrocked this government even to the extent of making public their porn activities in the Assembly.

The best way to derail an issue and sweep it under the carpet is to appoint a committee or to order a judicial probe. All know that the outcome will be a big zero. Remember...Somashekar commission after attack on Churches?

It is a mistake to expect anything from this backboneless government.

Barbaric act and inhuman conduct by every one ,be it a lawyer, police or media person is assuming alarming proportions and is a threat to the society.it is a shame that even now the blame game is on, instead of repenting and repairing the damage caused persons concerned are justifying their actions.neither a khaki dress nor a t v camera much less a black coat gives any licence to indulge in crime against society.I express a deep sense of sorrow to those who are injured and affected .such incidents leave an ugly scar .there is something radically wrong in our upbringing.I am reminded of a lone spectator in Calcutta cricket grounds holding a placard xpressing apology to srilankan team when riots occurred .violence is no answer to ills in a society.I am shocked that a particular T V channel very ively showed the same clipping of lawyers assaulting ,but deliberately avoided showing police atrocities and misbehavior of media personnel.

I am not justifying any barbaric acts of lawyers but cautioning media against partisan attitude ,which will only spread ill will in society.in my humble opinion all the three professions are pillars of rule of law .father can not rape a daughter ,a son can not molest the mother.today's incident has resulted in spreading hatred among the citizens against lawyers police and media person, perhaps in the same order.I would appeal sincerely to the persons at the helm of these three professions to jointly apoloogise to the citizens of Bangalore and the state and leave it to the appropriate body to decide the right and wrong of the ugly incident.each one of us owe a duty to the fellow citizens to provide a sense of security and a sense of well being.please let us not stand on ego, false pride or indulge in mud slinging and realize our duties and responsibilities and strive hard to BEHAVE PROPERLY AND IN A CIVILIZED MANNER.Jai hind and Jai Karnataka.

It is a warning message for Media. They should be unbiased in digging out scams, wrong doings, frauds etc..

They should serve state people and not a political party

In Karnataka there are many incidents like this to be recorded and put in Guinness books of record. What justice can we expect from the People who are supposed to be the judicial custodians and deliver justice to the guilty/criminals.They themselves behaving like criminals, rogues being lawyers, educated class.Shame on them.Uncultured, uncivilized people.
Attacking media persons of their no faults is not civilized culture.

Government should probe the incident very thoroughly and award severe punishment for the guilty without sparing anybody whoever they may be.Better remove your black coat and go for sanyasa or join any political party.People like you are real burden on earth and liability for the nation.

Karnataka is Ramrajya any body can beat, steal, can do anything they want it's bcz of poor judicial system prevailing in Karnataka. Now Reddy has been bought to Banglore. In few days he will be out on bail. When big bandicoots like Yeddy, katta are out, why public will fear for any law and order? until BJP is there in Karnataka this will go on? Jai Ramrajya.
