Mangaluru: Padavinangady jeep-scooter collision - Rider succumbs to injuries

Mangaluru, Mar 1: Thescooter rider who was seriously injured after a speeding jeep rammed into his two-wheeler at Padavinangady on the Airport Road on February 28 night.

The deceased has been identified as Imtiyaz Hussain (45), a resident of Kuppepadavu. Imtiyaz was working as an online delivery executive.

According to police sources, the mishap occurred when a jeep heading towards Bondel collided with the scooter.

The impact of the collision was so severe that the scooter was completely mangled, and Imtiyaz sustained critical injuries. Although he was rushed to a hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The entire horrific incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed at a nearby shop. The footage shows the high-speed impact that led to the fatal crash.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru North traffic police station, and an investigation is under way.

    RIP Wrong-side riding is getting rampant in Mangalore, especially with two-wheelers. Add to that the EV scooters which are absolutely noiseless, because of which public walking on the roadside have to be on full alert all the time! Wrong-side drivers/riders are not only risking their own lives but also the lives of other drivers who would be actually following the rules. And also endangering the lives of pedestrians who would never be expecting a vehicle from the wrong side while crossing the road. And all this just to save a few seconds of their time. They don't realize that its just a matter of time before they cause a major mishap.

    Just saw the video. Scooter rider was riding in wrong side with phone in hand. If you don't follow rules, even god can't save you
