Sharjah, Mar 1: The St Michael’s Mangalurean Konkani Community (SMMKC) in Sharjah marked a joyous and spiritually uplifting milestone on March 1, with the prayerful inauguration of its new core committee.

The ceremony took place right after the Konkani Eucharistic celebration at St Michael’s Church, bringing together the Konkani-speaking faithful in a spirit of unity, continuity, devotion, and celebration.

Under the loving guidance of spiritual director Fr Edwin Monis, the community warmly welcomed its fresh leadership team, ready to serve for the next two years. The 12 dedicated members, brimming with enthusiasm and talent, are:

Fr Edwin Monis continues to provide his cherished spiritual direction and support, ensuring the community remains firmly rooted in faith and fellowship.

The occasion also became a moment of deep gratitude as SMMKC honoured seven outgoing committee members for their selfless years of service: Alwyn Coutinho, Deepak Lobo, Donald Noronha, Dinesh Gras, Renita D’Souza, Rita Concesso, and Sheila D’souza. Their unwavering dedication has left an indelible mark on the community. Each was presented with a commemorative plaque as a token of heartfelt appreciation and love.

The newly formed team steps forward with renewed enthusiasm, diverse talents, and a deep-rooted love for Mangalorean Konkani traditions.

United by faith and culture, they are dedicated to enriching our celebrations and strengthening our spiritual journey. Guided by the wisdom and encouragement of our spiritual director, Fr Edwin Monis, they are inspired to serve with faith and dedication. Together, they will continue to make the St Michael’s Mangalurean Konkani community, Sharjah a joyful, grateful, faithful, faith-filled, and closely bonded family.
