Udupi: Parent–Teacher meeting held at SMVITM, Bantakal

Udupi, Mar 3: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organised a Parent–Teacher meeting for the parents of 2nd and 3rd year students on February 28.

The programme began with welcome, invocation, and floral reception. Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, addressed the gathering and emphasised responsible mobile usage, the need for updated parenting approaches, regular interaction with mentors, monitoring of students at home and hostel, and surprise visits when necessary.

He highlighted the institution’s academic excellence, placement training, scholarship facilities, counselling support, and student activity centres. He also requested parents to actively track attendance, timetable, and placement opportunities through the college website.

The chief guest, P G Konnur, director–training, Nature Bound Sahyadri OBT Centre, delivered an insightful session on emotionally intelligent parenting. He discussed generational changes, parenting styles, redefining success beyond academics, and the importance of emotional stability, character, leadership, and resilience. He stressed that malpractice issues require education and counselling with parental support.

CEO Dr Radhakrishna Aithal, deans, heads of departments were present for the programme.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion, followed by a formal vote of thanks. The meeting witnessed active participation from parents and faculty members, reinforcing the institute’s commitment to holistic student development through strong parent–institution collaboration.
