Mangaluru, Mar 4: A 47-year-old man died after being hit by a train near the Thokkottu overbridge in Ullal.
The deceased has been identified as Kiran (47), a resident of Kumpala Lakshmigudde. The mishap reportedly occurred while he was sitting near the railway track, when a passing train struck him.
Railway police rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection. During the preliminary inquiry, a mobile phone handset was found in the deceased’s pocket.

Based on the phone details, police established his identity and informed his family members about the incident.
A case has been registered at the railway police station, and further investigation is under way.
