Mumbai, Mar 4: The Customs department has seized narcotic substances, foreign currency, gold and precious stones collectively valued at over Rs 46 crore in multiple cases detected over the past week at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, an official said on Wednesday.
According to officials, the seizures were made during routine checks and targeted intelligence-based operations carried out at the international airport. The recovered items included banned narcotic drugs concealed in baggage and on passengers, as well as undeclared foreign currency, smuggled gold and precious stones.
Customs authorities stated that the interceptions were part of intensified surveillance amid increased passenger movement and heightened vigilance against smuggling activities.

Investigations are underway in all the cases, and the accused passengers have been booked under relevant provisions of the Customs Act and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Further details regarding the origin and intended destination of the seized consignments are being probed, officials added.
