Veteran journalist Narayan Bareth passes away in Jaipur

Jaipur, Mar 7: Veteran journalist Narayan Bareth passed away on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment for pneumonia, a family member confirmed. His funeral will be held later in the day in Jaipur.

“Bareth had been hospitalised for several days due to pneumonia and suffered a cardiac arrest on Friday night, leading to his demise,” the family member said.

Bareth had an illustrious career, having worked with the BBC and later serving as Rajasthan Information Commissioner. He was widely respected for his contributions to public-interest journalism and his tenure as an efficient administrator in the state government.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders expressed grief over his passing. Gehlot said Bareth had carved a distinct identity through journalism and left a lasting impression in his administrative role. He prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
