Mangalore, Mar 3: Bajrang Dal activists were arrested at Kenjar Padavu near the Bajpe Airport on Saturday March 3 after they attempted to gherao union corporate affairs ministers Veerappa Moily in a bid to stop him from entering the city.

The Bajrang Dal and VHP members had earlier threatened to stop Veerappa Moliy from entering the city, following the latter's comments against Bajrang Dal wherein he had termed them 'devils'.

On Saturday, Bajrang Dal members, on receiving information that Moily would be landing by the 7.15 pm flight, headed to Kenjar Padavu and started a protest. More than 150 activists were present, ready to confront Moily.

However, police made separate arrangements for Moily and took him through another route, thus avoiding trouble.

Bajrang Dal leaders Jagadeesh Shenava, Sharan Pumpwell and others were arrested from the spot and later released.

For all those who are not aware of Mr. Moily's works who is not only simple and sincere but a true representative of Common Man:

1)Chief Architect of the new Common Entrance Test (CET) system launching an admission policy for technical education founded on merit, transparency and social justice
2)uted the Total Literacy Programme in the State of Karnataka
3)Worked with the World Bank to ute Universalisation of Primary Education
4)Oversaw the reform in University Education in Karnataka. He established six universities such as Kannada University, Rajiv Gandhi Medical University, Visweshwariah Technical University, Karnataka Open University, Mangalore University and Gulbarga University.
5)Has successfully lobbied for the establishment of an IIT in Muddenahalli, birthplace of legendary engineer, Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya. The Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli is to be the 17th IIT in India and has been approved as part of the 11th 5 year plan. And will be completed around 2012
    6) SANCTIONED AND IMPLEMENTED THE Rs. 1200 CRORES ADB AID PROGRAMME FOR THE COASTAL REGION OF KARNATAKA
7)Established the nation’s leading law institute, The National Law School University
8)Initiated various projects such as the International Airport in Bangalore, International Convention Centre, Konkan Railway, and National Games in Bangalore.
9)As a result of the new industrial policy announced by him in 1993 the Karnataka state got investment projects worth Rs. 87,000 crores coinciding with the liberalization of economy. This policy brought the major employment generating companies such as the Vijaynagar Steel Plant, MRPL, BSAF and Wipro in Karnataka.
Now judge for yourself... what has the other so called leaders done for us?
    a) Hiked property prices
    b) Burnt the bridges between communities
    c) spread hatred
    d) upliftment of Goondas

I hope this message reaches to all that CAN make a difference.

Just out of curiosity - we people take all the trouble to comment does any one from the concerned department from the Government or the Police really read this or is it just between the people who comment ?
If you look at the people at the protest no one is very serious about why they are there, the activist nor the police force, were these people arrested and released later because the media was present & most of the time the action is just for the CAMERA. Were this people there for a cause or there were just brought there in numbers by promising them with a drink or two for the evening. What ever the promise might have been after the rally who is finally paying for all this ? People say party fund ! But where is party fund coming from ?
Wake up Youth ! Fight for your own reason not just becasue some party wants you to....
