Udupi, Mar 9: Udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone spreading false reports about child kidnappers in the Alevoor, Belle, and Kuntalnagar areas.
A message circulating widely on social media claims that “child kidnappers, disguised and on the move, are roaming the Alevoor, Belle, and Kuntalnagar areas. Parents are urged to accompany their children when they take autos in the morning and evening. It is everyone’s responsibility to protect children carefully.”

Superintendent of police Shankar clarified that the reports are completely false and urged the public not to forward such messages. “If anyone comes across such messages being shared, please inform the authorities immediately. Legal action will be initiated against those responsible, and a formal case will be registered,” he said in an official statement.
He also stressed the importance of community vigilance, saying that while it is the duty of parents and the police to ensure children’s safety, spreading misinformation can create unnecessary panic and confusion.
The police have urged citizens to remain alert but not be misled by unverified messages, reiterating that any genuine threat will be communicated through official channels.
