Beltangady: Fake number plate racket detected; bike rider booked

Beltangady, Mar 9: The Beltangady traffic police have detected a fake number plate racket after intercepting a motorcycle being ridden with forged documents. The case has been handed over to the Beltangady police station for further investigation.

The accused has been identified as Nawaz (19), a resident of Gerukatte in Kaliyya village. Nawaz was riding a bike at Santekatte, when Beltangady traffic sub-inspector Kishore Kumar P and staff member Shivananda stopped the vehicle for inspection.

During the check, it was found that fake documents had been created for the motorcycle.

The accused reportedly told the police that since the fitness certificate of the bike had expired, he had installed a fake number plate. He also stated that he had seen an advertisement on Facebook and paid money online to obtain the vehicle registration and documents.

A case has been registered at the Beltangady police station, and the police have intensified the investigation.
