Mangalore, Mar 4: A fire incident was reported from a house at Kadri Kaibattal here on Sunday March 4 at around 8.30 pm.

It is said that the fire was noticed by the lady of the house only after smoke started emanating from one of the rooms.

The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the loss are yet to be ascertained. However, speaking to Daijiworld, Clive who lives in the house said that the fire may have been lit among the coconut shells that had been placed on the roof above the bathroom. Earlier in the evening, water had been heated for bath and it is surmised that it may have sparked off the fire.

The house belongs to William D'Souza.

The fire spread to the bathroom, kitchen and another room, causing an estimated loss of around Rs one lac.

As soon as the fire was noticed, the neighbours were alerted. All of them gathered at the house and helped the family to in putting out the fire by pouring water. By the time Pandeshwar fire personnel arrived, most of the fire had been doused, it is said.

One thing I like in Mangalore is, if any incident happens people rush to render help apart from what caste they belong to. Forget about bringing differences between people. One day we all will be with one god. May god shower his bountiful blessings on you. Cheers.
