Beltangady, Mar 12: The Alumni Association of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar organized the inauguration of the ‘Pavithra Shiksha Sahayatha’ scholarship initiative on Thursday March 12, at the college auditorium. The programme was organised with the noble intention of supporting deserving students of the college through financial assistance and encouragement.
The programme began with a prayer led by Riya D’Souza and team from I BCom, followed by the welcome address delivered by Wilson Rupesh Moras, president of the Alumni Association, who warmly welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members, alumni and students present on the occasion.

The programme was inaugurated by Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld media. He formally inaugurated the initiative by unwrapping a sample cheque, symbolising the commencement of the scholarship programme. Pavithra Shiksha Sahayatha is an initiative of the Alumni Association aimed at extending support to students through scholarships. The name itself reflects its purpose — ‘Pavithra’ referring to the first name of the college, ‘Shiksha’ meaning education, and ‘Sahayatha’ meaning support. Through this initiative, the Alumni Association seeks to give back to the institution by supporting students who have excelled in various fields as well as those who are in financial need.
In his inaugural address, Walter Nandalike delivered an inspiring and engaging speech. In his unique style, he motivated the students to focus on the three important ‘Us’ — Update, Upgrade and Uplift — in order to grow in their personal and professional lives. At the same time, he advised students to stay away from the three ‘Cs — Comparison, Confusion and Complaint — which often hinder progress. His speech, filled with humour, practical wisdom and valuable advice, was well received by the students and faculty. The audience thoroughly enjoyed his talk and found it highly motivating.
The programme was presided over by Prof Alex Ivan Sequeira, principal of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar. In his presidential remarks, he expressed his appreciation to the Alumni Association for bringing a distinguished personality like Walter Nandalike to the campus. He also appreciated the consistent efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Alumni Association and briefly highlighted the recent achievements of the college in academics and sports.
Earlier, Nelson Monis, director of the Alumni Association, delivered the introductory remarks. In his address, he highlighted the recent achievements and activities of the college and elaborated on the various initiatives undertaken by the Alumni Association. He also introduced the chief guest, Walter Nandalike, to the gathering.
On this occasion, 23 students were awarded scholarships amounting to a total of Rs 1,00,000 under the achievers category and financial need category. The beneficiaries were selected based on the recommendations of the respective officers, recognising students who have excelled in various fields and those who require financial assistance to continue their education.
The programme was effectively compered by Rachel Benora D’Souza, a BA student. The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Rozita Sera, secretary of the Alumni Association, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
The inauguration of Pavithra Shiksha Sahayatha marked a meaningful step by the Alumni Association towards supporting students and strengthening the bond between alumni and their alma mater.
