Orleans, Mar 19: India’s campaign at the Orleans Masters witnessed mixed results on Wednesday, as Kidambi Srikanth crashed out in the opening round, while young shuttlers Anmol Kharb and Tanvi Sharma progressed to the pre-quarterfinals in the women’s singles category.
Former world No.1 Srikanth suffered a straight-game defeat, going down 12-21, 10-21 against Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen in the men’s singles first round.

In the women’s singles, Anmol Kharb delivered an impressive performance, registering a comfortable 21-12, 21-16 win over Turkey’s Neslihan Arin to secure her place in the round of 16.
Tanvi Sharma also advanced after Thailand’s Supanida Katethong retired midway due to injury. Tanvi was leading 21-18, 14-12 at the time of the concession.
However, it was disappointment for Rakshitha Ramraj, who bowed out in the opening round after losing 9-21, 15-21 to Japan’s Manami Suizu.
With two Indian players moving into the next stage, hopes remain alive for a strong showing in the women’s singles competition.
