DKMO Riyadh holds annual general body meeting; Fazlu Rahman Kolkar re-elected as president

Riyadh, Mar 19: The Dakshina Karnataka Muslim Okkoota (DKMO), Riyadh, successfully held its 16th Annual General Body Meeting (AGBM) recently at the Ramada Hotel, Batha, Riyadh. The meeting witnessed an impressive participation of over 150 members, representing most of the taluks of South Karnataka.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Mohammed Ali Kolkar.

Master of ceremony Nazeer Ahmed welcomed the gathering with Islamic greetings and invited Fazlu Rahman Kolkar (president), Irshad Bajpe (general secretary), Mohammed Asif (vice president), and special guest Br Ilyas Yermal to the dais.

For the past 18 years, DKMO has remained at the forefront of community service, supporting members during difficult times. The organization has been actively running its unique welfare initiative, the Family Relief Fund (FRF) scheme. Under this scheme, DKMO has so far provided Rs 3 lac each to families of deceased members back home. Additionally, DKMO has also arranged air tickets for repatriating ailing NRI’s who were unable to bear the expenses.

During the meeting, Br Abdul Aziz presented the annual report, briefing members on the committee’s achievements and future plans.

Senior member Hanif Bardila spoke on the importance of charity and encouraged members to continue supporting humanitarian causes.

The chief guest, Br Ilyas Yermal, addressed the gathering and appreciated DKMO’s consistent contributions toward community welfare.

In his presidential address, president Fazlurehman Kolkar expressed gratitude to all members and committee executives for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure.

As part of the felicitation program, DKMO honored Br Ghani Ahmed, Br Ashraf Khozi, and Br Shamsuddin Addoor for their outstanding service and overall performance in supporting DKMO activities.

Following this, the president dissolved the existing committee and requested Br Ilyas Yermal and Br Haneef B K to conduct the elections. Members were invited to voluntarily join the new committee and contribute to DKMO’s noble mission. A total of 29 members joined the newly formed committee.

Brother Fazlu Rahman as president Br Asif Kannur as vice president and Irshad Bajpe as general secretary.

The AGBM concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Nazeer Ahmed.
