Dakshina Kannada, Udupi to receive thunderstorms; Rain alert across Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Mar 20: The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunder in several parts of the state on Friday March 20 as well.

Rain with thunder is expected in many areas across the state by evening, with forecasts issued for 27 districts. There is also a likelihood of rainfall in some parts of the state on Friday. In Kasargod district, cloudy weather is expected in the afternoon and evening.

In Dakshina Kannada (DK), Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder is likely at isolated places in the ghat and sub-ghat regions during the evening.

Similarly, Kodagu, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, and Shivamogga districts are also likely to receive thunder showers at isolated places in the evening. However, indications suggest that the intensity of rainfall may decrease from March 20 onwards.

In north interior Karnataka, districts including Dharwad, Haveri, Bagalkote, Gadag, Vijayapura, Davanagere, Vijayanagara, Koppal, Ballari, Raichur, Yadagir, and Bidar are expected to witness scattered thunder showers in the evening.

In south interior Karnataka, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural and Urban, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, and Chitradurga districts are likely to receive thunder showers during the evening and night.

Due to changes in wind circulation patterns, there are indications of a reduction in moisture-laden winds blowing towards the land, which may lead to a decline in rainfall from March 20.

Meanwhile, rainfall was recorded in several parts of the state yesterday evening as well. Uttara Kannada district experienced particularly heavy showers, and rainfall is expected to continue on Friday.
