Udupi, Mar 6: Karnataka Chief minister (CM) D V Sadananda Gowda (DVS) visited the district on Monday March 5, to take part in electioneering for the upcoming bypoll. He visited Karkala Hosmar, Perdoor Temple, and Manipal, apart from the town.

After visiting Hotel Sharada International here, where a consultative meeting was held, he addressed the people at Devadigara Sabhabhavana at Beedinagudde.

He thanked the voters for the love and affection showered on him during the previous Lok Sabha poll, and said he could become the CM of the state because of their blessings.

“I have been doing my best to address your grievances and make your lives more comfortable. Since the last some years, I have been striving to give a new direction to politics. The state recently introduced The Karnataka Right to Services Act, to end the struggle the people in doing rounds of government offices to get licence, permissions, sanctions, reliefs, etc. This act provides for penalizing the officials concerned if there is delay. I have the satisfaction of working hard in the midst of various travails and confusions. Because of our efforts, the Bangalore-Mangalore train has been extended to Karwar. If you ensure victory of our candidate, Sunil Kumar, the train services will further improve. We even have widened the national highway, by taking over the responsibility of the union government,” he said.

MLA, Raghupati Bhat, said he has felt a need to open a school for musical instruments in the town. He revealed that the recommendation for a grant of once crore rupees to Devadigara Community Hall has been referred to the finance department. “There is a demand for payment of pension to the people engaged in playing musical instruments during auspicious occasions and temples. The Kannada and culture department has sanctioned a sum of two crore rupees for Devadigara Theatre. A cricket ground costing Rs 3.5 crore will also come up at Beedinagudde. We have also shifted the dumping ground from here to Karvalu, another of our achievements,” he claimed.

BJP candidate for the bypoll, Sunil Kumar, noted that setting up organizations is far easier as compared to running them effectively. He said that because of the efforts of the late Dr V S Acharya and K Raghupati Bhat, Udupi has seen lot of development. He said he will strive to develop the region further, if the people repose faith on him, and bless him to become a Lok Sabha member by casting their votes in his favour.

The CM also visited Perdoor Temple, Perdoor Kulala Sangha, Shivapadi Goddess Umamaheshwari Temple in Manipal, convention of Rajapura Saraswat Brahmin Sangh in Udupi, Lord Venkataramana Temple in the town, etc. He had his dinner at the house of Panduranga Kudva, a senior activist of the party in the town.

I always respect people who visit temples, churches, mosques for offering prayers. Its purely Indian culture and heritage.

DVS Sir, I like you, I like your hardwork during last 6 months. Now tighten your seat belt and sit in Bangalore. On 11th March, one more SAMA-VESHA has been organized by Yeddi & his team. Forget Udupi and go there without invitation - All best to you..

I completely agree with you Saihu. Mr.J.P. Hegde is the right candidate and he should win. I just hope for the win of Mr. Hegde. Our CM should concentrate on how to survive as Yeddy and his gang are busy planning for the outster of Sadananda Gowda. I just hope that Yeddy will not succeed in the evil plans.
