Hassan, Mar 24: A passenger from Kundapur was killed and more than eight others were injured in a collision between a private bus and a lorry near Ammakuteera layout at Hirisave in Hassan district at around 4.30 am on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Krishna Shetty from Kundapur, who died on the spot.
In the accident, more than eight passengers sustained injuries, and one of them is said to be in a critical condition. The bus, belonging to Durgamba Travels, was travelling from Mangaluru to Bengaluru on National Highway 75. While overtaking another vehicle, the bus rammed into the rear of a lorry moving ahead.
The injured have been shifted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital and other hospitals for treatment. According to sub-inspector Roopadevi, there were 32 people on board the bus, including the driver and conductor.
