On Delhi's Edge, BSP is King

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Mar 6 (IANS): The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) may have lost power in Uttar Pradesh but it reigned supreme in areas which border the national capital.

By Tuesday afternoon, BSP candidates had won from three of the five seats in Ghaziabad district: Loni, Muradnagar and Ghaziabad City.

The winners were Suresh Bansal (Ghaziabad), Wahab Chaudhary (Muradnagar) and Zakir Hussain (Loni).

Amarpal Sharma of the BSP was ahead of all his rivals in Sahibabad. In Modinagar, Sudesh Sharma of the RLD-Congress alliance was ahead of Ramashray Sharma of the Samajwadi Party.

In adjoining Gautambudh Nagar district, BSP's Vedram Nagar led in Jewar constituency.

The Bharatiya Janata Party's Mahesh Sharma was on the victory lap in Noida while Samajwadi Party candidate Rajkumar Bhati led in Dadri.
