Mangaluru, Mar 27: Police from Ullal police station conducted a late-night raid and seized banned e-cigarettes worth Rs 37,000, arresting one person in connection with the case.
According to sub-inspector Siddappa Naranur, acting on credible information, the police raided a house in Melina Talapady village within Ullal limits. The accused, identified as Nawaz, was allegedly storing and selling prohibited e-cigarettes.
During the operation, the police recovered a stock of e-cigarettes of various brands, which were reportedly concealed in a white sack kept beneath an electricity meter on the premises.

Officials stated that the accused did not possess any valid licence and was illegally selling the banned products. The seized items are considered harmful, with authorities warning of significant adverse health effects.
A case has been registered under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labeling) Rules, 2020.
