Udupi: Hit-and-run in Manipal - Pedestrian seriously injured, car seized

Udupi, Mar 28: A pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car coming from the opposite direction near Eshwaranagar late on Thursday night. The car driver fled the scene along with the vehicle, which was later seized near Manchi Kumeri.

The incident occurred when Vineesh and Veerappa, both natives of Beltangady, were returning after finishing work at a restaurant in Eshwaranagar. While they were crossing the divider and walking, a car speeding in the wrong direction from the petrol bunk side towards Janani Lodge in Eshwaranagar hit Veerappa.

As a result of the impact, Veerappa suffered severe injuries to his head, leg, and waist.

Upon receiving information, the police conducted an inspection and traced the car near Manchi Kumeri, where it was taken into custody. The vehicle is registered in Shivamogga district, and efforts are underway to identify the owner of the car.
