Byndoor, Mar 29: In a tragic road accident, a mother and her daughter lost their lives after their Ertiga car rammed into a stationary container truck on the national highway at Navunda in Byndoor taluk on Sunday, March 29.
The deceased have been identified as Mamata (36) and her daughter Dhritika (14).



The family, originally from Bengaluru, had come to the region on a pleasure trip. After visiting several tourist spots in Udupi district, they were heading toward Murudeshwar and Gokarna when the fatal mishap occurred.
Four others in the car, identified as Raghu (40), Jahnavi (12), Charvi (10), and Kiran, sustained serious injuries. Raghu, Jahnavi, and Charvi are currently undergoing treatment at Adarsha Hospital in Kundapur, while Kiran has been shifted to KMC Hospital in Manipal for advanced medical care.
It is reported that the impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled. Local residents and passersby rushed to the spot to assist in the rescue operations and helped shift the injured to the hospitals.
A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station, and further investigations are underway.
