Auto LPG supply disruption, price fluctuations trouble drivers in Mangaluru

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Mar 31: Disruption in the supply of commercial LPG has led to difficulties in the distribution of auto LPG in the city, causing inconvenience to auto-rickshaw drivers and some taxi operators who depend on it.

Due to the shortage of LPG, prices have also surged. At times, LPG is unavailable at certain filling stations, forcing auto drivers to move from one bunk to another in search of fuel.

Before the Iran conflict, auto LPG was priced at Rs 65 per litre. However, the rate has now suddenly increased to Rs 85 per litre. At some bunks that procure LPG from private sources, the price has gone up further to Rs 99.95 per litre, adding to the burden on drivers.

It is also learnt that some auto LPG bunks have suspended gas distribution altogether due to the price hike. Over the past few days, LPG prices have been fluctuating frequently. Meanwhile, long queues of auto-rickshaws were seen across the city on Monday due to the gas shortage.
