Mangaluru, Mar 31: An Air India Express Boeing aircraft adorned with vibrant artwork landed at Mangaluru International Airport on Monday, drawing attention for its unique visual appeal.
The aircraft is part of Air India Express’ ‘Tales of India’ initiative. As an effort to showcase India’s diverse culture to the world, the Boeing 737-8 (VT-BWV) has been transformed into a ‘Flying Canvas’. The concept aims to blend traditional art with modern aesthetics, turning travel into a moving cultural experience.

The aircraft operated between Mangaluru and Mumbai, with Leonardo Christopher serving as the chief pilot and Leon Vaas as the co-pilot. The artistic design of the aircraft has been created by artist Oshin Shiva. According to an airport spokesperson, this is India’s first fully art-painted aircraft.
Air India Express has been featuring folk art from various Indian states on the tail sections of its aircraft. However, what makes the VT-BWV aircraft stand out is that its entire exterior has been artistically designed, making it a distinctive addition to the fleet.
