Goa government pledges enhanced safety for Shirgao Lairai Devi Jatra

Panaji, Apr 2: The Goa government has assured the Goa High Court that robust safety measures will be implemented for the upcoming Shirgao Lairai Devi Jatra, aiming to prevent incidents during the annual religious festival.

In its submission to the court, the government highlighted plans to strengthen crowd management, emergency response systems, and inter-departmental coordination, given the expected large turnout of devotees.

The statement also referenced last year’s stampede, noting that a decision regarding the Devasthan Committee will be taken promptly. Appropriate actions will follow based on the findings and recommendations of the fact-finding report.
