Manipal, Apr 8: On the occasion of World Health Day on April 8, Kasturba Hospital Manipal organized a large-scale public health exhibition at its OPD entrance, in line with the WHO theme “Together for Health: Stand with Science.” The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with more than 5,000 people visiting and benefiting from various health initiatives.
The program was inaugurated by Dr H S Ballal, pro chancellor, MAHE, in the presence of Dr Anil K Bhat, dean, KMC, Manipal, Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, COO-Teaching Hospitals, MAHE, Manipal and Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, associate deans Dr Ranjitha Shetty and Dr Vinod Nayak and Sachin Karanth, head, marketing were present along with other senior leadership from Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.



The inauguration commenced with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a visit to multiple specialty stalls. The exhibition featured multi-specialty health awareness stalls, free basic screenings, CPR demonstrations, and a street play by the nursing team, highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare and early detection.
Dr H S Ballal, in his presiding address, highlighted the significance of the WHO theme and urged the public to trust evidence-based medical practices. He appreciated the efforts of Kasturba Hospital in extending healthcare awareness beyond hospital walls and reaching the larger community.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Anil K Bhat emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare and community awareness, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in early diagnosis and reducing the burden of disease. He encouraged the public to actively participate in regular health check-ups and adopt healthier lifestyles.
Dr Sudhakar Kantipudi, welcomed the gathering, felicitated each stall representative, and Dr Avinash Shetty proposed a vote of thanks. A captivating street play was also organised by the nursing team. It conveyed a strong message on preventive healthcare.
The initiative reaffirmed Kasturba Hospital’s commitment to community health, successfully impacting thousands of attendees through awareness and preventive care.
