Bilaspur, Apr 9: Vaibhav Singh from Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh has secured All India Rank (AIR) 82 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024, achieving the feat in his very first attempt.
Hailing from Bilaspur and having completed his schooling in Shimla, Vaibhav built a strong academic foundation early on. He graduated in political science (honours) from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, and also holds a master’s degree in Economics from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Choosing Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) as his optional subject, Vaibhav aligned his preparation with his academic background, which played a key role in his success.
His preparation strategy was marked by a structured and focused approach. He participated in a mentorship program, which helped him streamline his study plan and stay consistent throughout the preparation journey. A significant aspect of his strategy was the integration of general studies, essay, and ethics papers with his optional subject, enabling better conceptual clarity and answer writing.
Vaibhav credits his success to a strong foundation, disciplined preparation, and a clear understanding of the exam requirements. His achievement in the very first attempt stands as an inspiration to aspirants across the country, highlighting the importance of the right strategy, consistency, and effective guidance in cracking one of India’s toughest examinations.
