Laid-off workers threaten to halt mineral transport in Goa mining site protest

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji

Panaji, Apr 11: Workers laid off from Sesa Resources Limited’s mining operations at Digane-Surla in Goa have warned that they will not allow the transportation of minerals until their demands are addressed.

The agitated workers, expressing strong resentment over the layoffs, said they would block the movement of mined material from the site, escalating tensions in the mining belt. They alleged that sudden job losses have left them without clarity on their future and demanded immediate intervention and resolution of their grievances.

The protest has raised concerns over possible disruption in mining operations and logistics in the region. Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation as the standoff between the laid-off workers and the mining company continues, officials said.

Efforts are expected to be made to bring both sides to the negotiating table to prevent further escalation and ensure smooth transport of minerals from the site.
