Mangalore: Budding Leaders of Canara College Triumph at 'Edify-2012'

Mangalore, Mar 8: 'Edify 2012 - Leadership Meet 'organized by MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies, Bondel, came to a grand close here on Tuesday March 7, with Canara First Grade College walking home with the overall championship. SDM College Ujire came second.

The valedictory was presided over by Devanand Pai, assistant secretary, Women’s National Education Society. M R Vasudeva, Mangalore airport director was the chief guest.

"Leaders fill the gaps that are left by managers,” said M R Vasudeva while addressing the gathering. He also spoke on management studies and urged the students to rise to the expectations of the society and make use of the knowledge given by the college to create wonders.

"To be good leader, one needs patience," said Devanand Pai in his presidential speech. He also gave the students tips on acquiring leadership skills and said that being patient, getting involved in whatever one does, having control over language, maintaining transparency and quick decision making are the five ingredients to success. He also urged the students to think twice before reacting to a situation.

Dr Narayana K, director, Ravish, faculty coordinator, Nikitha S Prabhu were present on the dais. Dr Narayana welcomed, Ravish presented the annual report and Nikitha proposed the vote of thanks.

The championship trophy and prizes were distributed to the winners on the occasion. Students from many colleges in and around the city participated in the two-day long event.
