India bags 17 medals at Asian Wrestling Championships

Bishkek, Apr 13: India concluded its campaign at the Asian Wrestling Championships with an impressive haul of 17 medals, including two silver and one bronze secured on the final day in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

On the concluding day, Olympic medallist Aman Sehrawat clinched silver in the men’s 61 kg freestyle category after going down 13-10 to Kwang Myong Kim.

In the men’s 86 kg freestyle event, Mukul Dahiya also secured silver, losing 7-0 to Iran’s two-time Asian champion Kamran Ghasempour.

Meanwhile, in the 125 kg division, Dinesh bagged a bronze medal after defeating Shamil Sharipov 7-1.

With this performance, India finished with a total of two gold, seven silver, and eight bronze medals. The men’s freestyle team contributed seven medals, while Greco-Roman wrestlers secured five, and the women’s team added five medals to the overall tally.
