Puttur, Apr 13: A gang has reportedly been targeting two-wheeler riders on the highway in Uppinangady by stopping them and collecting money on the pretext of installing devices that promise higher mileage for their bikes. Locals have expressed strong displeasure over such activities.

A few days ago, at the Gandhi Park underpass in Uppinangady, a tailor was stopped by an individual who claimed he would install a mileage-enhancing device on the bike and demanded Rs 1,000. This led to an argument between the rider and the accused, who fled the spot as people began to gather.

Several two-wheeler riders have reportedly been cheated in a similar manner. Residents have urged Uppinangady police to take immediate action in this regard.
