Coutinho urges Rane to revoke TCP nod after panchayat cancels licence

Daijiworld Media Network - Margao

Margao, Apr 13: Advocate Pratima Coutinho has appealed to TCP Minister Vishwajeet Rane to reject the technical approval granted by the Town and Country Planning Department in a controversial construction case.

The demand follows a move by residents of Navelim (Ratwaddo), who recently succeeded in getting the construction licence revoked by the local panchayat body.

Coutinho has urged the minister to take note of the panchayat’s decision and ensure that the technical clearance issued by the TCP department is also withdrawn, thereby respecting the concerns raised by the local community.

The issue has once again highlighted the growing friction between official development approvals and grassroots opposition, with residents asserting their right to protect the character of their locality and enforce planning norms.
