Mangaluru, Apr 13: Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) held a press briefing on Monday, April 13, to announce the details of the upcoming Graduation Days 2026. The briefing was led by director of FMCI, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, in the presence of several administrators and principals of the various constituent units.
Addressing the media, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo highlighted that the graduation ceremonies at FMCI are a reflection of the institution’s enduring legacy of academic excellence and value-based education. He emphasized a significant departure from tradition this year; the institution has chosen to forgo the customary mortarboard or Oxford cap. Instead, graduates will don specially designed sashes representing their respective colleges and will be awarded framed certificates, adding a distinctive touch to the occasion.
A thanksgiving eucharistic celebration will be held on April 16 at St Joseph Chapel, with Bishop of Mangalore and president of FMCI, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, as the main celebrant. The Bishop will also preside over the graduation ceremonies on April 16 and 17, while Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, Dr Bernard Moras, will preside over the ceremony on April 18.
Graduation schedule and highlights
The director outlined the schedule for the three-day event:
April 16: 36th Graduation Day – Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College
The ceremony will begin at 10:00 am. Chairman of the National Commission for Homoeopathy, New Delhi, Dr Tarakeshwar Jain, and vice chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Dr K S Gangadhar Somayaji, will be the chief guests. A total of 111 graduates, including 19 postgraduates, will receive their degrees. The session will feature the presentation of the President’s Gold Medal and several other institutional awards.
April 17: Medical, Allied Health and Physiotherapy Colleges
The ceremony for the 22nd MBBS batch, along with Physiotherapy and Allied Health sciences, will be held at 3:00 pm. Minister of medical education and skill development, Sharanprakash R Patil, and vice chancellor of Karnataka University, Dharwad, Prof Dr Airani Mohammad Khan, will be the chief guests. A total of 518 graduates will be conferred degrees.
April 18: Nursing and Speech & Hearing Colleges
The final day of graduation at 3:00 pm will see 177 students from the College and School of Nursing and 50 students from the College of Speech and Hearing receiving their degrees. Associate dean of MAHE, Manipal, Dr Venkataraja Aithal, and principal of the College of Nursing at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr Asha P Shetty, will be the chief guests.
Throughout the three days, the institution will recognise merit through the President’s Gold Medal and numerous institutional awards established in memory of past directors, administrators, and benefactors.
Proprietor of Fourwinds Communications, Elias Fernandes, and liaison officer of FMCI, Dr Kelvin Peter Pais, were present at the briefing. The FMCI leadership extended a warm invitation to the media to be part of the celebrations and share the institution’s service-oriented vision with the community.
