Shravasti (UP), Apr 15: Utkarsh Pathak, a resident of Badalpur in the Sirsiya block of Shravasti, has brought laurels to his home district by securing the 88th rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2024 examinations.
Following his success, Pathak met Shravasti district magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi on Monday. The district magistrate congratulated him on his stellar achievement and extended his best wishes for a bright future in the civil services.

Academic journey from Navodaya to IIT
Utkarsh’s success is a testament to his consistent academic excellence. The son of Ajay Kumar Pathak, a teacher in a local government school, Utkarsh completed his primary education in Piprahwa. He then secured admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kirtanpur, Bahraich, where he passed his high school in 2012 and intermediate exams in 2014 with first-class honours.
Pursuing higher education, he moved to Delhi and completed his BSc (Honours) from the prestigious Hindu College in 2017. He then went on to earn an MSc in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2019.
Balancing professional responsibilities
While pursuing his post-graduation, Utkarsh was selected as a scientific officer at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Despite the demands of his professional role as a scientist, he remained dedicated to his goal of joining the civil services.
By balancing his job at ONGC with a rigorous study schedule, Utkarsh managed to clear the civil services examination in 2024, securing an impressive 88th rank nationally. His achievement has sparked celebrations in Shravasti, with locals hailing him as an inspiration for aspiring students from rural backgrounds.
