Moodbidri: 75 youth receive Confirmation at Corpus Christi Church

Media Release

Moodbidri, Apr 15: Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri was filled with joy as 75 teenagers received the Sacrament of Confirmation, marking a significant milestone in their spiritual journey on April 14. The sacrament was conferred by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Mangalore, who graced the occasion with his presence.

The bishop was warmly welcomed by parishioners at 4 pm with a vibrant reception featuring a children’s band. Fr Onil D’Souza greeted him with a bouquet, expressing the community’s reverence and joy.

Before the sacrament, bishop Peter Paul Saldanha engaged the candidates in an interactive session, encouraging them to deepen their understanding of the Holy Spirit through thought-provoking questions. This was followed by the solemn Eucharistic celebration led by the bishop along with Fr Onil D’Souza. All 75 candidates actively participated in the liturgy, while the church choir enhanced the celebration with their melodious singing.

In his homily, the bishop compared the anointing oil to medicine that heals bodily wounds, emphasizing that the Holy Spirit strengthens and heals the mind and soul. He also highlighted the gifts of the Holy Spirit and urged the youth to witness Christ in their daily lives.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Fr Onil D’Souza, who appreciated the bishop and catechism teachers for their guidance.
