CM Siddaramaiah felicitates Karkala shuttler Ayush Shetty for winning historic Asia silver

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah felicitated Ayush Shetty of Karkala, who created history by winning a silver medal at the Badminton Asia Championship, at his office in Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday, April 15.

Ayush Shetty, who became the first Indian to secure a silver medal at the prestigious championship, was honoured by the Chief Minister with a shawl and words of appreciation for his remarkable achievement.

Ayush Shetty delivered an outstanding performance at the tournament held in Ningbo, China, where he defeated world number one player Kunlavut Vitidsarn in a thrilling match to enter the final.

With this achievement, he secured a historic silver medal for India after a gap of 61 years in the championship.

On the occasion, former minister Vijaykumar Sorake, former MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Karkala Congress leader Uday Shetty Muniyalu, MLC Govindaraju, and Ayush Shetty’s parents, Ram Prakash Shetty and Shalmali Shetty, were present.
