New Delhi, Apr 17: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Thursday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha, calling him the “only flag bearer of feminism” while speaking during a debate on the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Participating in the discussion, Ranaut said, “The daughters of India today believe that there is no bigger feminist than the Prime Minister,” as she backed the government’s push for 33% reservation for women.

Defending the government’s pace, she said Modi had acted decisively on long-pending reforms. “What didn’t happen in 60 years, he achieved in 10 — be it pucca houses, providing gas cylinders, or inducting women into defence forces. One thing is certain: he is in a hurry to give justice to women,” she said, reiterating that he is the “flag bearer of feminism.”
Ranaut also targeted the Congress, questioning why women’s reservation was not implemented during its decades in power. Referring to Sonia Gandhi’s remarks, she said, “She asks why the BJP is in a hurry to bring the bill. Should we be like you and let it hang for 30 years?”
Highlighting the low representation of women, Ranaut cited Himachal Pradesh, stating that out of 68 MLAs, only one is a woman, while other states have representation of around 8–9%.
The remarks came as Parliament debated the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026, which seeks to provide 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, along with related bills on delimitation and Union Territories laws.
