Mangaluru, Apr 18: An evening of music, remembrance, and purpose marked the grand launch of ‘Kemril Charity – Donating Love’ at LF Rasquinha Hall through the musical presentation ‘Feel the Beats’. Though presented as a recorded show, the event resonated with a powerful sense of energy, bringing together music lovers, dignitaries, and well-wishers for a noble cause.
The programme began on a solemn note as Liston D'Souza paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Fr Melwyn Pinto SJ, remembering his invaluable contribution as an educationist and a guiding force who touched countless lives.
A defining moment of the evening was the symbolic inauguration of ‘Kemril Charity – Donating Love’ by young drummer Kemril Pinto. Guided by the vision "Music with a Mission," the trust seeks to support individuals in need through educational assistance, medical support, and humanitarian outreach.
The initiative is inspired by Norbert Saldanha, a philanthropist based in Australia, whose commitment to giving back has shaped the foundation of the trust. The initiative is led by trustees Smitha Pinto, Liston D'Souza, Vincent Fernandes, Jeshma D'Souza, and Jacintha Fernandes.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including Fr Siby Kaitharan, director of Snehasadan; Anil Lobo, chairman of MCC Bank; Ronald Nazareth; Fr Joseph Mateo, an accomplished flutist from Barcelona; and Norbert Saldanha.
A special recorded message from Fr Praveen Martis, Vice-Chancellor of St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), was played. He lauded the exceptional talent of Kemril Pinto and acknowledged the musical excellence of Vincent Fernandes Cascia of ‘Mogachi Lahran’ fame, emphasizing how the initiative blends talent with compassion.
As part of its maiden mission, the charity extended scholarships to ten deserving students, enabling them to continue their educational journey. This gesture reflected the trust’s core commitment to nurturing dreams and supporting futures.
At the heart of the evening was Kemril Pinto, whose remarkable drumless cover performances provided a unique dimension to the concert. His rhythm and passion established him as a young artist with a strong sense of purpose.
The musical celebration was further enriched by a vibrant lineup of artists, including Vincent Fernandes Cascia, Shilpa Cutinha, Jason Lobo, Sonal Monteiro, KGF 2 playback singer Prakash Mahadevan, and playback singer Roopa Prakash. Adding a soulful touch was Fr Joseph Mateo, whose flute performance created a serene and uplifting atmosphere.
