Mangaluru, Apr 20: The Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal, Dr Leopoldo Girelli, the Vatican’s ambassador and representative of the Pope, was accorded a warm reception at Mangaluru International Airport upon his arrival.
Dr Girelli arrived to participate in the episcopal ordination and installation ceremony of Msgr Dr Leslie Clifford D’Souza as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Udupi.
On behalf of the Diocese of Udupi, Chancellor Fr Stephen D’Souza extended a cordial welcome to the Apostolic Nuncio at the airport.
Also present on the occasion were judicial vicar Fr Dr Roshan D’Souza, Fr Jancil Alva, assistant commissioner of customs Shubha Rodrigues, Oswald Rodrigues, and other dignitaries.
The reception marked a significant prelude to the historic episcopal ordination ceremony in Udupi, drawing attention from clergy and the faithful across the region.
