Udupi, Apr 20: A fire broke out at the old milk processing unit of KMF located in Eshwar Nagar, Manipal. Fire and emergency personnel who rushed to the spot succeeded in dousing the flames promptly.

The incident reportedly occurred around 11 am on Tuesday while welding work was underway at the unit.

Sparks from the welding are said to have ignited nearby oil, triggering the fire.

The flames soon spread to the boiler in the facility. Fire personnel from Udupi conducted an operation for about an hour and managed to bring the fire under control. It is learnt that the incident caused significant damage.
