Karkala: Thief breaks into house, steals scooter parked inside compound

Karkala, Apr 20: In a theft reported from Anand Nagar in Kasaba village of Karkala on the early morning of April 19, a thief broke open the door of a house and later stole a two-wheeler parked within the house compound.

The incident occurred at the residence of Harish Shetty (46), a native of Kariyakallu near ‘Star Cable Network’ in Anand Nagar. Harish, who works in Ujire, had locked his house and left on April 16 morning. The theft came to light on the morning of April 19 when relatives informed him over the phone that the house door had been broken open.

The thief is said to have entered the house in the early hours of April 19 by opening the main door using some tool. After entering, he broke open a cupboard lock and scattered clothes inside the house. He then took the key of the scooter kept inside the house and fled with the vehicle that was parked in the compound.

The entire incident has been captured on CCTV cameras.

Based on the complaint filed by Harish Shetty, a case has been registered at Karkala Town police station, and investigation is underway.
