Dalit Sangharsha Samithi to hold ‘Deshabhimani Samavesh’ in Udupi on Apr 26

Udupi, Apr 23: To mark the 135th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, the Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (Ambedkar Vada), Udupi district, will organize a ‘Deshabhimani Samavesh – My Country, My Pride’ on April 26.

Addressing a press conference in Udupi on Thursday, April 23, committee leader Manjunath Giliyar said the event will be held at the Christian Grounds, Udupi. The convention is being organized in association with several organizations, including Sahabalve Udupi, Udupi District Muslim Okkoota, International Christ Okkoota, Catholic Sabha Udupi Diocese, Manava Bandathva Vedike, CITU Udupi, and several other social and rights-based groups.

A series of programs have been lined up for the day, including a cultural rally, a felicitation ceremony, and the presentation of the ‘Bhima Sarathi Award’.

The ‘Jai Bhim’ cultural rally will commence at 3:30 pm from Board High School, Udupi. The rally will be flagged off by Udupi deputy commissioner Swaroopa T K and superintendent of police Hariram Shankar.

The formal stage program will begin at 5:00 pm at the Christian Grounds. Sandalwood actor Duniya Vijay will inaugurate the event, which will be presided over by Professor K Paniraj, convener of Sahabalve Udupi.

On the occasion, the ‘Bhima Sarathi Award’ will be conferred on Dr H S Shetty in recognition of his significant contributions to society.

Sundar Master, Shyamraj Birthi, K Paniraj, Nagesh Kumar Udyavar, Husain Katapady, Charles Ambler, and Kaviraj were present at the press conference.
