Udupi, Apr 24: In an inspiring achievement, S Drithi Poojary, daughter of a city bus driver, has secured first rank in her school with an outstanding performance in the SSLC examinations.

Drithi, a student of Government Girls Pre-University College, Udupi, scored an impressive 612 out of 625 marks, achieving a remarkable 97.92%. She emerged as the school topper, bringing pride to her institution and family.

She is the daughter of Shridar Poojary (Annu), a city bus driver, and Bharathi Poojary. Her success is being widely appreciated as a testament to determination, hard work, and perseverance despite a modest family background.

Drithi lives with her parents, younger sister, and grandmother, who plays a key role in supporting the family by taking care of the children when the parents are at work.

Teachers and well-wishers have lauded Drithi for her dedication to studies and consistent academic excellence. Her achievement serves as a motivation to many students, proving that with focus and commitment, one can overcome challenges and achieve great heights.

Drithi expressed her gratitude to her parents and teachers for their constant support and encouragement. She aspires to pursue higher education and build a successful career in the future.

Expressing her happiness, Drithi said that she received strong support from her school and teachers. “My parents never pressured me to score high marks, but they were very happy when I became the topper. I was expecting above 95%,” she said.

She added that she plans to take Science with Computer Science in her higher studies and aspires to prepare for the UPSC in the future. Reflecting on her academic journey, she said she began her education in a government school at Garadimajal and later continued at Government Girls High School, which she noted offers education on par with private institutions.

Sharing a message to fellow students, Drithi advised, “Study with interest and follow a proper timetable every day. If anyone scores less than expected, they should not take any wrong decisions, as there is a lot more to achieve in life.”

Heartfelt congratulations to this young girl for her remarkable achievement. Results like this come only from relentless effort and determination. At the same time, the media should rethink this habit of highlighting professions like bus driver, farmer or labourer in headlines. Every parent’s work is dignified, and every child’s success stands on merit, not on background labels.
