Minor girl injured in firing incident in Hardoi; 3 juveniles detained

Hardoi, Apr 24: A 10-year-old girl was injured in a firing incident while travelling in an e-rickshaw in Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi district, with police identifying three juveniles in connection with the case and detaining one of them.

Police said Ayushi, a resident of Farrukhabad district, was visiting her maternal grandfather’s house in Para village and was returning from a relative’s home with her mother and brother when the incident took place.

The sound of gunfire created panic in the locality as residents rushed the injured child to Pihani Community Health Centre. She was later shifted to the district hospital for further treatment.

Officials said the girl is now out of danger.

Following the incident, police launched a search operation in the area and examined CCTV footage, based on which the three accused were identified. All are said to be between 14 and 15 years of age.

Additional Superintendent of Police Martand Prakash Singh said one juvenile has been detained and is being interrogated, while efforts are on to trace the other two.

Police have begun further investigation into the circumstances leading to the firing.
