Udupi, Mar 9: MLA Raghupathi Bhat held an election campaign for BJP candidate Sunil Kumar for the forthcoming Udupi–Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by polls at Malpe on Friday March 9.

MLA Raghupati was accompanied by over 250 party activists, BJP Youth Morcha district vice-president Sanat Salian, Vijay Kundar, and Panduranga Malpe.

Earlier, Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivas Shetty in a press meet said that South Canara District Credit Co-operative Bank (SCDCC) Bank chairman Rajendra Kumar had solicited votes in favour of the Congress when the members of self-help-groups sponsored by Navodaya Gram Vikas Trust, promoted by SCDCC Bank, arrived to deposit money at the Brahmavar branch of Navodaya Gram Vikas Trust, a few days ago. The issue will be reported to state Election Commissioner.

“SCDCC Bank had applied for opening a branch in the district and this was denied by the court that ruled that the Bank’s jurisdiction was restricted to Dakshina Kannada district. Meanwhile, the state BJP will grant permission to open the branch after the by polls. Supporting Congress to get the approval for opening a branch is not justified,” added MLA Srinivas Shetty.
