Berlin, Apr 26: Bayern Munich produced a remarkable second-half comeback to overturn a three-goal deficit and defeat Mainz 05 4–3 on Saturday, extending their winning streak ahead of a crucial UEFA Champions League semifinal clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Head coach Vincent Kompany made eight changes to the side that recently beat Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup, resting key players like Joshua Kimmich and Dayot Upamecano.

Mainz started strongly, capitalizing on defensive errors to take control. Goals from Dominik Kohr, Paul Nebel, and Sheraldo Becker gave the hosts a commanding 3–0 lead by halftime.

Bayern, largely ineffective in the first half, came out revitalized after the break. The introduction of Harry Kane and Michael Olise proved decisive. Nicolas Jackson pulled one back in the 53rd minute, before Olise scored himself in the 73rd.

Jamal Musiala equalized in the 80th minute, setting up a dramatic finish. Just two minutes later, Kane completed the turnaround with a close-range strike to seal the victory.

The win keeps Bayern unbeaten in 25 away matches and marks their ninth consecutive victory, reinforcing their dominance as newly crowned Bundesliga champions. Meanwhile, Mainz remain in 10th place, still eight points clear of the relegation play-off zone.

Reflecting on the match, Kane admitted the team fell short in the first half but praised their response after the break, highlighting belief and intensity as key factors behind the comeback.

In other results, Hoffenheim edged Hamburger SV 2–1, Bayer Leverkusen defeated FC Cologne 2–1, while Wolfsburg and Borussia Monchengladbach played out a goalless draw. Eintracht Frankfurt were held 1–1 by Augsburg, and bottom-placed Heidenheim secured a 2–0 win over St. Pauli.
