Udupi: One arrested in temple donation box theft case

Udupi, Apr 27: Ajekar police have arrested one accused in connection with the theft of a temple donation box at Bharbhareshwara Durgaparameshwari Temple in Kadthala village.

The arrested accused has been identified as Raghavendra V K (35), a resident of Manjakyaru in Varanga village.

Police have recovered Rs 1,000 in cash allegedly stolen from the temple, a bike worth Rs 25,000, a mobile phone worth Rs 5,000, and an iron spanner used in the crime.

According to police, a case had been registered at Ajekar police station after the locks of the donation boxes of Bharbhareshwara, Kodamaniththaya, and Nagadevara, located inside the temple premises, were broken open and Rs 1,000 in offerings was stolen.

    This donation box theft is stets increasing.They should now other methods to install donation box so that noone can take out donation box but authorities can take out what is inside .A hallow place where donation falls down through narrow opening schlitz.?Only authorities should have key to this.Make the thief to clean temple for a month without salary.
