Colva, Apr 27: In a second successful crackdown on online gambling along the Salcete coastal belt, Colva police arrested four persons—three from Gujarat and one from Haryana—for allegedly operating an online betting racket from a row villa at Vanelim, Colva, late Saturday night.

Police said they seized two laptops, six mobile phones and other related equipment collectively valued at Rs 3.10 lakh. The information was confirmed by Police Inspector Vikram Naik.

The raid, the second in recent days, was carried out during routine patrolling by a team led by PSI Prashant Bhagat, along with PSI T Anil and other personnel, following a tip-off. After verifying the information, police obtained a search warrant from the SDPO office in Margao.

The accused were allegedly caught red-handed while accepting illegal online bets and running computer-based gambling operations from the premises.

Further investigation is underway under the supervision of SP (South) Santosh Dessai and SDPO Shidhant Shirodkar.
