Power cut hits Calangute traffic police office; challan collection disrupted

Daijiworld Media Network - Calangute

Calangute, Apr 28: The traffic police office in Calangute has been facing major operational disruption after its electricity supply was disconnected over unpaid dues of Rs 8,10,567 pending since 2023.

The office, located on panchayat property, has remained without power for the past five days, forcing staff to work under candlelight during night hours.

The outage has affected essential equipment and daily functioning, with the computer system reportedly shifted to another location to maintain basic operations.

The disruption has also impacted public services, as traffic police have been unable to process or collect challan payments during this period. This has caused inconvenience to both officials and tourists who were issued fines over the past few days.
