BSK successfully hosts 12th season of cricket tournament under new format of Billava Premier League

Kuwait, Apr 29: Billava Sangha Kuwait (BSK) successfully organized the 12th Season Cricket Tournament in a new format of Billava Premier League. It was held on Friday, February 13, at TRC New Ground, Reggae, Kuwait. The daylong sporting extravaganza featured competitions in Men’s, Women’s, and Kids’ categories, witnessing enthusiastic participation, spirited performances, and vibrant community support throughout the event.

The tournament commenced at 6:30 AM with a traditional prayer and ceremonial breaking of the coconut by advisor Raghu C Poojary and Krishna S Poojary. President Suresh Kunder, in his welcome address, extended his best wishes to all participating teams and appreciated their sporting spirit.

Season 12 marked a significant milestone in BSK’s sporting history with the introduction of an official player auction system for the first time. Eight teams registered for the Men’s category, making the season more competitive and thrilling than ever before. The much-anticipated player auction was conducted on January 16 at Aspire International School, Abbasiya, in a highly energetic atmosphere with active participation from players, team owners, and supporters.

• Dinesh Bhatkal – 23,000 points (Abbasiya Cricketers)
• Prathap Poojary – 20,000 points (Billava Tigers)
• Prajwal – 19,000 points (Karavali Billava Brigade)
• Praveen Poojary – 18,000 points (Golden Eagles)
• Yadav Suvarna – 18,000 points (Team Phoenix)

Eight teams competed in the Men’s tournament, divided into two groups:

Group A

1. Billava Tigers Reggae
2. Mangalore Strikers
3. Tulunadu Cricketers
4. Phoenix

Group B

1. Golden Eagles
2. Karavali Billava Brigade
3. Billava Brothers
4. Abbasiya Cricketers

The four Teams that competed in the Women’s category were Solar Thunders, Nakshathra, Kudla Strikers, and Blue Strikers. While Royal Tigers and Golden Panther participated in the Kids’ category.

The award ceremony was compered by Mahesh Poojary and Shilpa Kiran Raj, who welcomed the chief guest and BSK members. The chief guest was welcomed with a bouquet by president Suresh Kunder. BSK president Suresh Kunder, sports secretary Sujith Kotian, and other committee members presented trophies and medals to the winners and outstanding players.

The matches were fairly officiated by Antony Vijay, Dian Fernandes, Naveen, Santhosh Kunder, Sujay Naik, and Abhijith Hegde. Overall match coordination was managed by Sandesh Amin, while scoring was handled efficiently by Ashok Acharya, Tilak Mendon, Sudheer Acharya, Raveesh Nayak, Sooraj Shetty, and Shithil Hegde.

The BSK Committee honored the sponsors, coordinators, umpires, and scorekeepers in appreciation of their invaluable contributions. Memorable moments of BPL-2026 were beautifully captured by Sumal. Participants and attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch served by M/s Golden Wok Restaurant.

In his concluding remarks, President Mr. Suresh Kunder congratulated the winners and thanked all teams for their active participation. He extended special appreciation to sports secretary Sujith Kotian, joint secretary Shakthi Anchan, committee members, and all BSK members for their collective efforts in organizing the tournament seamlessly. The vote of thanks was delivered by general secretary Charan Suvarna.
