Panaji, May 1: The Goa government on Friday announced a one-time financial incentive of Rs 15,000 for individuals working in the private sector for over 20 years.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant made the announcement while addressing a function arranged on the occasion of International Workers' Day. He said the incentive would be provided to eligible employees as a recognition of their long service.
In the presence of Labour Minister Atanasio Monserratte, the Chief Minister also felicitated several individuals who have completed two decades of service in the private sector.

Sawant said that either employers or workers themselves can apply to the Labour Welfare Department with valid proof of service exceeding 20 years to claim the benefit.
Encouraging employment in the private sector, the Chief Minister urged youth to consider such opportunities, noting that they often offer competitive salaries compared to government jobs.
He also lauded the contribution of labourers to infrastructure development and said that around 1.4 lakh workers registered with the state government stand to benefit from the Labour Welfare Fund. Sawant appealed to private firms to register their employees to ensure wider access to welfare schemes.
